"Idyllic retreat - no need to say any more". The words of 2 of our early guests in September 2018 to the newly renovated Cransworth Springs, offering a peaceful and tranquil haven from which to base a self-catering holiday in Cornwall. Set in its own 6 acres of open fields with beautiful views of Cornish countryside across the Rosenannon Downs and valley.

The site was originally a hunting lodge with connections to Prideaux Place in nearby Padstow. Chosen for its proximity to the Rosenannon Downs and having its own cool, fresh water supply fed from a spring which still supplies the property to this day.

We are situated just 10 minutes drive from the A30 Victoria junction which provides access to the whole length and breadth of Cornwall. Glorious golden North coast beaches are just a 25 minute drive away as is the popular fishing village of Padstow with all of its shops and wonderful eating places.

Other popular places for days out such as Newquay, Port Isaac, Tintagel, Rock, Polzeath, Daymer Bay and Eden Project are all just a short drive away.

Wadebridge, 10 minutes drive, is our nearest town offering supermarkets along with a great range of shops, pubs, restaurants and cinema.  The popular Camel Trail can also be accessed here providing a scenic walking and cycling path which follows the banks of the river Camel to either Padstow or Bodmin.

Our accommodation

If you're looking for a busy holiday park with lots of lodges, caravans, bars and entertainment then Cransworth Springs is not for you. In addition to our house we have just 2 accommodation units, each set well apart from each other. Ivy Cottage is a one bedroom cottage which was fully refurbished and newly furnished for the 2018 season. Bramble Lodge is a brand new log cabin style lodge with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Both properties boast magnificent views across the farmland of Rosenannon valley and each has its own individual adjacent 2 acres field and outdoor barbecue and eating area to enjoy the views and warm summer evenings. With winter breaks in mind both are extensively insulated and enjoy gas fired central heating providing a warm and cosy winter hideaway.

Ivy Cottage provides luxury and romance for a couple. Bramble Lodge is a fun and different way for a small family or 2 couples to experience a true countryside holiday. Booking the 2 properties together would allow mum, dad the kids, granny and grandad to enjoy quality time together in a beautiful rural setting. Contact us for details of special rates when booking both.

Facilities

We have a newly rebuilt heated outdoor swimming pool (May to September) and children's climbing frame and swings. 2 pygmy goats also now live with us,Tilly and Heidi, sharing the stable with the chickens.

As is sometimes the case in Britain the weather doesn't always play ball. For those occasions when you might fancy a barbecue but the weather doesn't allow it we have a wonderful new Cornish Piskey barbecue hut which allows up to 8 people to enjoy a barbecue in the dry - great fun, even if the sun is shining or it's a cold and frosty winter's night.

We hope that when you come to Cransworth Springs you'll use it as an opportunity to step away from the stresses and distractions of modern life - just as we did when we moved here in 2016. We do however understand that the internet is an integral part of modern life and so superfast fibre broadband is provided free of charge in both properties.

Please refer to the individual pages for Ivy Cottage and Bramble Lodge for more detail on which each has to offer, but whichever property you choose, the following will be included at no extra cost:

  • Electricity and gas

  • Superfast broadband WiFi

  • All bedding and linen

  • Towels - Bathroom, Kitchen and Pool (you'll need to bring beach towels)

  • Heated outdoor pool (May to September)

  • Barbecue next to each property (charcoal may be purchased from us if required) along with table and chairs for al fresco dining

  • Use of barbecue hut (charcoal may be purchased from us if required)

  • Kitchen starter pack including washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, dishcloth, kitchen roll, bin liners, washing liqui-tabs for washing machine, cooking oil, salt & pepper, tea bags and sachets of coffee and sugar

  • Toilet rolls

  • High chair if required

  • Child's bed safety guard if required

The following can also be catered for at additional cost:

  • Travel Cot (0 to 2) @ £15 per stay
  • Cot Bed (2 to 5) @ £15 per stay
We will also accept up to 2 well behaved dogs aged over 12 months and house trained @ £3.00 each per night. (Dogs must not be left unattended in either property).

In addition to all this you'll be able to enjoy the beauty and peace which comes as standard at Cransworth Springs. Being free of light pollution means bright starry night skies – more often than not accompanied by the hooting of owls. Whilst refurbishing Ivy Cottage we stumbled across a poem which had obviously been written by a visitor in the past, entitled “Cransworth Peace”. We think this manages to capture the essence of the place.

We very much hope to welcome you to Cransworth Springs in the future. Please explore this website to find out more about availability and making a booking and contact us if you have any questions at all.
