Some suggestions for pubs and places to eat (based on our experience) in no particular order. We wouldn't put anything on here if we hadn't enjoyed it. Links to websites are provided where available.

  • Onda Wadebridge 4.5 miles / 10 minutes. Lovely new (summer 2023) Italian based restaurant in Wadebridge town centre. Book on the website. 

  • The Halfway House Inn 7 miles / 15 minutes. Book on the website. Although not the absolute closest pub we consider this our local. Accept dogs but best to advise when booking.

  • The Quarryman 6.5 miles / 20 minutes. Pub serving nice food. Book on the website. Accept dogs in the slate floor bar.

  • Old Mill Bistro Little Petherick. 10 miles / 20 minutes. On the A389 through Little Petherick between Wadebridge and Padstow. Small, friendly restaurant in an old mill building. Lovely food. Wonderful garden at the rear where you can enjoy a pre or post dinner drink (weather permitting!)

  • The Dancing Taipan Wadebridge 4.5 miles / 10 minutes. Cantonese and Oriental restaurant and takeaway. Next to the Regal Cinema on The Platt. Excellent eat all you like buffet (items cooked fresh and brought to table) Wednesday, Friday and Sunday nights. 01208 816623

  • St Kew Inn 9 miles / 20 minutes. Lovely village pub. Book on the website.

  • The Fish House Fistral 16 miles / 35 minutes. Overlooks Fistral beach Newquay. Run by Paul Harwood a protege of Rick Stein at the Padstow Seafood Restaurant. Book on the website.

  • The Beach Hut Watergate Bay  12 miles / 30 minutes. Casual dining overlooking the beach at Watergate Bay Newquay. Booking on 01637 860543 or via their website

  • The Mariners Rock 11 miles / 25 minutes. Gastro pub, part of the Paul Ainsworth stable of eateries around Padstow. Lovely views across the river Camel to Padstow. Parking is in the Rock Quarry carpark which is about a 5 minute walk to the pub. Book on the website

  • The Swan Wadebridge 4.5 miles / 10 minutes. St Austell Breweries pub in the centre of Wadebridge. Park in the carpark adjacent to the Coop. Good basic pub grub. Accept dogs. Book on the website

  • The Seafood Restaurant Padstow 11 miles / 25 minutes. Rick Stein's restaurant which probably started it all for Padstow as an eatery capital. Book on the website

  • Restaurant Emily Scott 13 miles / 25 minutes. Lovely situation overlooking the beach at Watergate Bay. This chef cooked for the world leaders at the 2021 G7 summit in St Ives. Great food mainly seafood. Not cheap.

  • The Farmers Arms St Merryn 11 miles / 25 minutes. Not quite as "gastro" as the nearby Cornish Arms but good food and beer nonetheless. Book on 01841 520303

  • The Falcon Inn St Mawgan 10 miles / 20 minutes. Lovely pub in the pretty village of St Mawgan. We've popped in here for something to eat on a circular walk from Mawgan Porth. Accept dogs. Check the website for opening times
